Public Health Dentistry

The Department of Public Health Dentistry is committed to oral health of the community by various preventive and curative activities in the department and extends the same in out-reach programmes. There are two satellite centres, where health promotion and treatment are provided once in a month.

The department has a well equipped Mobile Dental Unit with two dental chairs which helps the dental health care team to reach out to the underserved segments of the population.

There are eight adopted institutions including one special institution for visually impaired, where annual oral health check-up, treatment and preventive programmes are rendered. In addition, throughout the year oral health field programmes are held in and around Karnataka and remote villages of West Bengal.

Oral Health Education is provided in the museum attached to the department, also equipped with audiovisual aids.

The research activities in the preventive dentistry by the post-graduate students and staff are the specialty of the department.

We do haveTobacco Cessation Counseling Centre in the department.
