The mission of the Department of Paedodontics & Preventive Dentistry is to promote the health of infants, children, adolescents ( up to 18years), and persons with special needs, through education, motivation regarding maintenance of oral hygiene & health.
The Department of Paedodontics & Preventive Dentistry is headed under the able guidance of Dr Venkatesh Babu who is an eminent Paedodontist, a pioneer in his field and with his profound knowledge of the subject and passion for teaching he has made our Department not only best in country but has gained International recognition through his work. Dr Venkatesh Babu (Prof. and Head) and his team are adeptly trained are excellent in providing comprehensive oral care for infants and children. With their sound clinical and academic knowledge, they mould the future of budding dentists.
The Department is designed to be child friendly environment with staff who are trained in child behaviour management.
Our dental health team gives assurance for the best available treatment with state of the art equipments and newer restorative materials at reasonable prices and no compromise in the quality. Other facilities include Conscious sedation, an excellent way to provide dental treatment to very young, fearful children and those with numerous dental needs.
Our department conducts various school dental health programmes, which is headed by Dr Usha Mohan Das, which enables us to provide treatment to those children in need of it. She is spearheading a School Dental Health programme called “Smile-Bangalore” where in around 75,000 school children are being screened and being given free treatment.
We have a peripheral unit in Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health where in we render free treatment to the underprivileged children and those with special health care needs.
