The department is headed by Dr (Mrs.) M.S.Rani and has the following staff:

Under graduate teaching

The BDS course is of 5 years duration and the student learning activities of Orthodontics is spread across two years.

 Post graduate teaching

The post-Graduate teaching programme in Prosthodontics began in the year 2001-september with one admission per year and so far five batches of students have successfully completed the course.

The Post-Graduate training programme creates a learning experience through:

  • Inter departmental meetings
  • Pre clinical work
  • Survey
  • Research Projects
  • Demonstrations
  • Clinical Practice

All under the supervision of the qualified Staff

Research programmes 

All the Post –Graduate students should take up research projects as a part of their course and so far eight research projects have been completed and another two projects are in progress.

Surveys are also taken up every year to provide an opportunity for the post-Graduate students to learn from such community projects.

Future plans for the development of the department

As we have a good team of staff, we should go in for more intakes of post graduates and also start a diploma course in Orthodontics as introduced by DCI.

Apart from the routine curriculum, we intend to build up database for the cases recorded which will be useful for research programmes.

As Our Principal is planning for networking and WIFI system in the new block, we intend to develop Teledentistry and Tele-orthodontics.

We also intend to start a Growth centre.
